    A low carb diet is a good diet that can result in rapid weight loss, and has many health benefits, although it may also have some negative effects. What are Carbohydrates? Carbohydrates (carbs) are a type of macronutrient, the other of which are fat and protein. Macronutrients are the nutrients we need in larger quantities that provide us with energy. Starches, sugar, and fibers are carbs. The digestive system breaks down carbs into glucose, or blood sugar. The bloodstream absorbs the glucose and uses it as energy for fueling the body.
