About
My name is Max. I started this website because I am trying to lose a bit of weight. I want to see which diet works best for me, so I’m trying out a bunch of them. I want to report back to you which ones worked best for me, and give you more information from my own first hand experiences. I will answer a wide variety of questions on the diets that prove most successful for me, and focus on those. Although I’m not a doctor, I want to talk about the links between mental health and weight from my own personal experiences with it. I will also be exploring the topic of nutritional epidemiology, or the link between disease and diet.
I have successfully lost over 40 pounds in the past, and kept most of it off for almost 10 years, but recently gained it back, mostly due to serious mental health issues that led to a lot of emotional eating and medication induced weight gain. I have a Masters degree in Epidemiology/Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a Bachelors degree in Neuroscience. I have worked in the fields of epidemiology and public health for some years, including doing scientific research at both Columbia University, and the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA), which runs the subways and buses in New York City.
