What is a Good Low Carb Range?

    December 28, 2022 /

A low carb range is generally anywhere between 20 grams of carbs to 130 or even 150 grams of carbs a day. However, extremely low carb ranges around 20 grams a day may work for the short term, and aid with rapid weight loss, but are probably not great for long term health. More moderate low carb ranges, around 100-130 may be better for longer term weight maintenance, as they are not so extreme. What are Carbs? Carbs, AKA carbohydrates, are a type of macronutrient. A macronutrient is a nutrient that your body needs in large quantities to survive and function efficiently. The other two types are protein and fat.…

What Depression Medication Makes You Gain Weight?

    December 6, 2022 /

What are Psychiatric Drugs? Psychiatric, or psychotropic drugs, are used to treat mental health disorders. They work by adjusting the number of major chemicals in the brain. Decreasing or increasing certain neurotransmitters can help to counter the affects of certain mental health disorders. Neurotransmitters are the messengers that allow your brain to communicate with each other. Psychiatric medication is not a cure, it can only treat mental health disorders, and are sometimes more effective when combined with therapy.  There are five main types of psychiatric medications. These are anti-anxiety medications, antidepressants, antipsychotics, stimulants, and mood stabilizers. Bio

Hi, my name is Max! I've wanted to lose a bit of weight, so I started this blog with the idea to experiment with a bunch of different diets and see how they work for me, so I can share my findings with you. Because I have a masters degree in epidemiology/public health, I am also interested in nutritional epidemiology, and plan on exploring that a bit.
